4 credit card lifters, forgers arrested

Police arrested four alleged members of credit card frauds syndicate including its linchpin from different areas of Dhaka, Chittagong and Barisal cities in the last 72 hours ending 6.oo am on Saturday, reports UNB. The arrestees are: Kamal Ahmed, alias Khokon, alias Nurul Amin, alias Dada Bhai, 52, allegedly the ring leader, Anwar Hossain, 33, Abdur Rob, 42, an employee at Gulshan Post Office and Russell, 34. Two mobile phone sets, one laptop, other equipment and valuable items were recovered from their possessions. During preliminary investigation, the arrestees revealed that Kamal alias Dada Bhai has allegedly stolen over 1,500 credit cards of different individuals, banks and financial institutions in 16 years from 1996 to 2011. They further said he lifted the credit cards in connivance with a section of employees of post office and with the help of university students and businessmen. The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted simultaneous drives in Dhaka, Chittagong and Barisal from December 7 to early Saturday and rounded up the credit card lifters.
