4-day debate contest concludes at RU

RAJSHAHI UNIUVERSITY, Apr 11: The final round of four-day long "bdjobs.com-BFDF" second national debate competition and its prize distribution ceremony concluded at the Rajshahi University (RU) Saturday evening. The debate programme that started from April 6 was organised by the RU Business Faculty Debating Forum (BFDF) in association with largest job site organisation of the country bdjobs.com. In the grand finale JUDO of Jahanginagar University (JU) won the champion's trophy while BFDF team of RU became the runner-up and its Shabnam Mustari Shisir elected best debater in the contest. RU Pro-VC Prof. M Nurullah was the chief guest in the prize and crest distribution ceremony. Among others, president of Bangladesh Debate Federation (BDF) and media person Dr. Abdun Noor Tushar, Abu Sayeed of Daily Samakal, local daily Sonar Desh editor Prof. Fazlul Hoque also addressed the ceremony. In the programme the guests urged the young generation to look at things logically and not accept anything without verifying it through logic to establish truth in every sphere of life and society. They also urged the university authorities to gear up extra-curricular activities for the students so that they can develop their talent. BFDF chief executive member M Ashikur Rahman presided the programme. Rtv, daily Samakal and Sonar Desh extended media support. A total 800 debaters from 32 public and private universities including Medical College, National University and BUET took part in the contest. Earlier, on April 6 BFDF also organised a day-long career planning seminar on job market.
