4-day road, waterway blockade in Bandarban continues

The 4-day road and waterway blockade, enforced by Bangalee Chhatra Parishad and Parbatya Nagorik Parishad protesting the 3-day tour of a team of International Commission on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs to the hill region, is going on peacefully in the district on Saturday. The blockaders put up barricade on some main points of the district including Haludia, Sualak and Bus Station area on the Bandarban-Keranihat road and some points of the Sangu River on Saturday morning. No long route buses departed from the district nor any entered Bandarban Bus Terminal, causing immense sufferings to the travelers. Earlier at a press briefing at Bandarban Press Club on Thursday, Bangalee Chhatra Parishad and Parbatya Nagorik Parishad announced to enforce a 4-day road and waterway blockade from July 5 to 8, according to a news agency.
