4 die as docs observe strike

JESSORE, June 17: Four patients died in two days due to a work-stoppage enforced by doctors of 250-bed General Hospital of the district protesting against attack on one of their colleagues.
The deceased were Runa Begum (18), wife of M Masud of Narail, Noor Islam (32) of Monirampur, Nazrul Islam (75) of Kadamtala under Sharsha Upazila and Khorshed of Bhekutia under Jessore Sadar Upazila.
Of the deceased Runa died Wednesday and the others today.
The local people alleged that the doctors observed their programme ignoring the directive of the deputy commissioner (DC), causing untold sufferings to patients.
