4 get life for murder in Netrakona

A court in Netrakona has sentenced two pairs of siblings to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Kalmakanda upazila over 13 years ago. The convicts are Babul and his brother Shafiqul, sons of late Samed Ali, and Abdul Malek and his brother Chanfar, sons of late Nabi Hossain of Charulia village in the upazila. The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer 1 year more rigorous imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the convicts chopped Abdur Rashid to death at the village on May 5, 2001. Later, the victim’s wife, Kamrun Nahar, filed a case against five people in this connection. Police submitted the charge-sheet against the five on April 7, 2002. Meanwhile, another accused, Zabbar, died during the trial of the case. After examining seven witnesses and evidence the Judge handed down the verdict on Tuesday, according to a news agency.
