4 held with 60 gold bars at Shahjalal Airport

Custom intelligence officials detained four passengers and recovered 60 gold bars weighing about 7.50 kilogram (kg) at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport on Wednesday. The arrested are Jabed, 40, Kanchan, 39, Ahmed, 40, and Sagor, 41. Mostafizur Rahman, deputy director (Customs intelligence) at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Airport in the city's Kurmitola said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dubai landed at the airport via Sylhet around 9:00am. The four passengers who boarded on the flight from Sylhet Osmani International Airport disembarked here. On suspicion, customs intelligence men searched their bodies and belongings at the domestic terminal of the airport and found 60 gold bars, worth around Tk 40 million, from their possession, said Mostafizur Rahman. The detainees informed the customs officials that an unidentified man handed over the gold bars to them, according to UNB.
