4 inter-district robbers arrested

Police arrested four alleged robbers from in front of Jagannathpur Primary School at Satkhira Sadar upazila on Tuesday. The arrestees were identified as Jahangir Gazi, 40, son of Shahaj Uddin Gazi, a resident of Debaria village, Shawkat Gazi, 50, son of Sona Gazi, a resident of Paikara village and Gaffar Dhali, 30, son of Gahar Ali Dhali, a resident of Benadona village of Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira, and Hasan Ali, 35, son of Nur Islam, a resident of Kulia village of Debhata upazila. They are all members of an inter-district robbers’ gang. Tipped off that a gang of robbers was preparing to commit robbery in the area, police conducted a drive there around 4:00am. Sensing the presence of police, the robbers started hurling crude bombs at them. Police also, in retaliation, fired several rounds of bullet on them, leaving two bandits – Jahangir and Shawkat – injured by bullets. Later, police arrested the four including bullet-hit two bandits from the spot, according to UNB.
