4 killed, 12 injured in road mishaps

MYMENSINGH, Apr 18 (UNB) : Two people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on-collision between two trucks in Signboard area on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Trishal Upazila Sunday midnight. The deceased were identified as Shah Alam (25) and Nazmul Islam (25). Police said the accident occurred when the Mymensingh-bound passenger carrying truck from Dhaka collided with another goods-laden truck coming from opposite direction, leaving two truck passengers dead on the spot and 10 others injured. Critically injured eight people were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while two others to a local clinic. Another report from Munshiganj adds : Two people were killed and two others injured when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Umpara in Sripur Upazila Monday. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Police said, the accident took place when a Maowa-bound passenger bus rammed into a CNG run auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot and injuring two others. The injured were rushed to Srinagar Health complex. None was arrested in this connection as the driver managed to flee the scene after the accident. Enraged by the accident, local people put up barricade on Dhaka-Maowa highway that disrupted traffic movement on the busy road. Traffic movement did not resume till 3:30 pm.On information, police rushed to the spot.
