4 of a family burnt to death

At least four people, including a woman and two children, were burnt to death in a fire in Lohagara upazila in Chittagong district on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim, 42, his wife Nasim, 31, and their two daughters –Lucky Akhter, 13, and Reshmi Akhter, 8. Officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station M Shahjahan said the fire originated from a cigarette butt at Abdur Rahim’s house at Sitahipara under Adhunagar village around 4:00 am and it soon engulfed the house, killing Rahim, his wife and their two daughters. Local people rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after three hours of frantic efforts as no firefighting unit could reach the remote village. On information, police recovered the charred bodies in the morning, according to UNB.
