4 projects okayed at 34th Social Business Design Lab

A large number of social business personalities, experts and observers from home and abroad attended the 34th Social Business Design Lab which took place at Grameen Bank Bhaban at Mirpur in the city. At the lab, 6 new social business plans were presented. The projects were discussed in both – Plenary and Groups – and 4 of them were approved on Monday. Two independent participants, one from India and the other from another Asian country, expressed their keen interest in one of the four projects approved yesterday. A partnership agreement was signed between Grameen Fabrics and Fashions Limited and Babylon Group for production of low-cost sanitary towels for rural women. Besides, an MoU was signed between Grameen Kalyan and 5 Nabin Udoktya businesses as well as an MoU between Grameen Telecom Trust and SDRS Solar Project. Apart from that, two guest projects were presented at the Lab – a vermin compost project to manufacture organic fertiliser in Kushtia district and a social business education platform to educate children in a fun, interactive and interest way. The Design Lab was chaired by Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus who opened the Lab with a welcome to the audience present and those who participated via live screen from more than 70 countries across the globe, according to a press release.
