4 shown arrested 9-month after Gopibagh 6-murder

Four men, accused in three different cases, have been shown arrested over the murder of 6 people at their flat at building in Gopibagh in the city 9 months ago. Detective police’s Inspector Abul Khayer Matubbar produced them before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon. The court granted 4 days’ remand for Ziaul Islam, Al Amin, ‘Ajmir’, and Golam Sarowar. On December 21 last year, unknown miscreants slaughtered Lutfor Rahman Faruk, 60, who used to identify himself as a ‘pir’ (saint), his son Monir Hossain, caretaker of the building ‘Monju’, Faruk’s followers ‘Shaheen’, ‘Rasel’ and Mojibur Rahman at the 1st floor of the 4-storey building no. 64/6 at Ramkrishna Mission Road. Faruk’s son Monir worked at the Sadarghat branch of City Bank. A case was filed with Wari Police Station and police took several people into custody for questioning. However, the police could not ascertain the motive of the killings and the Detective Branch was assigned to investigate the murders. DB Inspector Matubbor said on August 28 this year, 35 people had been questioned till then but police were unable to gather any important information, according to a news agency.
