4 suspected drug traders held

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police in separate drives in Jessore in the last two days arrested four suspected drug traders and recovered drugs and Indian clothes worth more than Tk 5 million. Tipped off, BGB personnel raided several Jessore-bound buses from Beanpole Land Port in Jessore and seized Indian sari worth Tk 5 million on Tuesday night. Besodes, the BGB men recovered Indian 3-pieces and cosmetics. The border guards also arrested an alleged drug trader along with 50 bottles of Phensidyl during the drive, said battalion commander of BGB-26 Lt Col Matiur Rahman. Meanwhile, Benapole Port police arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with wine, Yaba tablet and hemp from different parts of Benapole union at Sarsa Upazila on Wednesday. They were picked up from Benapole Railway Station, Bhaberber and the port area. The police also recovered 25 bottles of wine, 25 bottles of Phensidyl, 250 gms of hemp, and 15 pieces of Yaba tablet from them, according to UNB.
