4 vessels to continue Pinak-6 search

Sunday, 10 August 2014

Only four vessels will continue the search operations for sunken launch Pinak-6. All other vessels of Navy, Coastguards, BIWTA and fire service have been withdrawn. ‘Jarip-10, Kandari-2, Rustam and Nirbhik will take part in the main rescue work,’ Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Saiful Hasan Badal told the media on Sunday. Survey vessel Jarip-10 and tugboat Kandari-2 will continue to ascertain whether a metal object, located on Saturday on Padma River bed near Mawa of Munshiganj, is Pinak-6. The object is roughly the length of the sunken launch that went down on August 4 with over 300 people on board. Rescue ship Rustam and Nirbhik will standby for salvage operations. Once it is possible to anchor the metallic object, the rescue ships will try to pull it to the shore. However, divers will continue to look for bodies, according to bdnews24.com.
