4 youths die in Ctg toxic gas

CHITTAGONG, Apr 16: Four persons including two brothers died from toxic gas in a septic tank at a village of Satkania upazila of north Chittagong Saturday. Police said one Sohail (23) opened cover and entered the septic tank for final plastering on the wall of the tank at Muhuripara area of village Keochia of Satkania at around 5 pm. As he suffered suffocation his elder brother Shawkat (25) entered the tank for his help. In the same way two other workers also entered and got suffocated by toxic gas inside the tank. They are Anwar Hossain (28), son of Badsha Meah of the same village and Khorshed Alam (27), son of Nurul Amin of Padua village of Lohagara Upazila. On information the local people and the police rushed to the scene and broke open the tank to rescue them. They were rushed to a local health clinic but the attending physicians declared them dead. Local said the septic tank was built months back but the gas remaining under cover for a long time got intoxicated.
