40 garment workers hurt in police action

At least 40 readymade garment (RMG) workers were injured as the police charged batons on rampaging workers sparking clashes at Jalkuri under Fatulla police station of Narayanganj Tuesday, reports UNB.
The violence ensued when the police baton-charged the agitating workers of Ming Knitwear Limited of Mohammadi Group at Pagla Delpara in Fatulla after they staged a blockade on Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road at around noon causing hour-long traffic disruption.
Earlier in the morning, the workers went on work abstention protesting the alleged irregularities in payment of their arrears by the management and also pressing for other demands.
