40 get HC bail in Sherpur Jamaat leader killing case
The party will appeal against the bail order

The High Court (HC) has granted bail to 40 people, including prime accused BNP candidate Mahmudul Haque, in connection with a case filed over the killing of Jamaat leader Rezaul Karim in Jhenaigati Upazila of Sherpur, report agencies.
The HC bench of Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah and Justice Faysal Hasan Arif passed the order on Monday when all the accused appeared before the court and sought anticipatory bail for them.
Barrister Ruhul Kuddus stood for the accused.
Rezaul Karim, secretary of Sribordi upazila unit Jamaat-e-Islami, was killed during a clash between the leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami over sitting on the front row during a manifesto distribution programme in Jhenaigati under Sherpur-3 constituency (Sreebardi and Jhenaigati) on January 29.
Marzia, wife of Jamaat leader, filed a case against 234 identified and 500 unidentified people with Jhenaigati Police Station on Friday.

FE report adds: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (BJI) will file an appeal as the High Court (HC) on Monday granted bail to 40 people including prime accused BNP candidate Mahmudul Haque in connection with a case filed over the killing of Jamaat leader Rezaul Karim in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur.
"We (BJI) are enraged. We would go to the Appellate Division challenging the bail granted by the High Court," Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the Jamaat's central media cell advocate Ehsanul Mahboob Jobair told a press briefing at the party's Moghbazar central office in the city.
