40 heads of state and govt hail new BD govt: JS told

Heads of 40 states and governments have so far congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since the formation of the present government following the January 5 national elections. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has came up with the data in the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament) when he was responding to a scripted question of M Rustam Ali Faraji (Pirojpur-3). Meanwhile, heads of 11 international and regional organisations including the United Nations greeted Sheikh Hasina for her re-election as the Prime Minister, said the Foreign Minister. The countries which congratulated the Prime Minister include India, China, Russia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan, Iran, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Palestine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, Kenya, Armenia, Uganda, Libya, Jordan, Sudan, Laos, Philippines, Kuwait and Morocco. Meanwhile, the USA, the European Union and other friendly countries expressed their firm resolve to work together with the newly elected government to ensure continuation of democracy, good governance and positive development trend, Mahmood Ali added, according to UNB.
