40-km tailback on Dhaka-Ctg Highway

Saturday, 15 March 2014

FE Report
Thousands of passengers had to face immense sufferings following a 40-km tailback, created on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway since early Friday, following a road accident in Comilla.
Police and eyewitnesses said the tailback occurred due to head-on clash between two trucks at 3:00am at Raypur in Daudkandi, and random movement of traffic after the damaged trucks were removed from the highway. A large number of vehicles were seen stranded on the highway stretching from Baldakhal in Daudkandi to Chandina of Comilla.
Movement of vehicles became normal after 13 hours, from around 4:00 pm Friday.
A driver of Dhaka-bound Soudia Paribahan told this correspondent that it took him more than five hours to travel 28 kilometres from Chandina.
