The US soccer team has defied expectations in advancing to the World Cup's knockout rounds, but it still has a long way to go to captivate the full attention of the American public.
A Wall Street Journal/NBC News/ Annenberg poll found 40 per cent of Americans care "not at all" about the World Cup and only 22 per cent measured their interest at a "great deal" or "quite a bit." Another 38 per cent said they have "just some" or "very little" interest in the month-long tournament in Brazil.
