40 rescued while being trafficked to India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rescued 40 people, including women and children, from the clutches of human traffickers while they were being trafficked to India through Benapole union of Sharsha upazila in Jessore on Saturday. Acting on secret information, a patrol team of BGB conducted a drive at Balur Math at Putkhali border and held them on their way to India, said Shafi Uddin, Commander of Benapole BGB Battalion-23 camp. Later they were arrested. The victims include 26 men, 11 women and three children. All of them hail from different upazilas of Faridpur, Narail and Barisal districts. Human traffickers were sending them to India illegally with promise of better employment there. They were handed over to Benapole Port Police. A case was filed, according to a news agency.
