4,000 fishermen families get VGF rice in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Oct 20 (BSS): Some 4,000 fishermen families received 80 tonnes of rice under special vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme in Rajshahi city and four upazilas in the district.
The fishermen families were brought under special VGF programme as they remained abstained from fishing mother Hilsa fish in the river Padma here.
A 22-day ban on catching, selling, hoarding and transporting of hilsa came into effect from October 14 to protect Hilsa with eggs. The ban will be effective until November 4. This is the peak period when hilsas release eggs.
