40,875 Yaba seized in Dhaka, Cox\\\'s Bazar: 6 held

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Department of Customs, in separate drives, have seized a total of 40,875 Yaba tablets in Dhaka city and Cox’s Bazar district and arrested six people in this connection. In Dhaka, customs officials arrested a man along with 875 Yaba pills at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport on Saturday. The arrested was identified as Jahir Uddin, 39, of Lakshmipur district. In separate drive, Rab-7 personnel recovered 30,000 Yaba tablets in Khuruskul Ghat area in Cox’s Bazar town in the afternoon. The arrested were identified as Hasem, 50, Zamal, 40, Lokman, 40, Nazir, 40, and Rahim, 38, hail from different areas of the town. In another incident, BGB-42 battalion members recovered 10,000 Yaba at Hila Customs Ghat in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar in the morning. However, none was arrested as the smugglers managed to escape sensing the presence of the border guards, according to private TV channels.
