4.1kg gold seized at Shahjalal airport

Airport customs and armed police held eight persons with 4.1 kilograms of gold worth about Tk 18.8 million from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Thursday evening and Friday morning, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Arif Hossain, Sharif Uddin, Mukhlesur Rahman, Amirul Huq, Nurul Alam Riad, Delwar Hossain, Humayun Kabir and Mainuddin.
Airport customs arrested Arif with 3 kilograms of gold while he was crossing green channel area of the airport around 8:00 am Friday while airport armed police battalion held the remaining seven with 11 gold bars weighing 1.1 kg.
Alamgir Hossain Shimul, assistant police super of airport armed police battalion, confirmed it.
Arif arrived at Shahjalal airport from Kuala Lumpur by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Fiday morning while the seven others came to Dhaka from Riyadh by another flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Thursday evening, airport sources said.
