42 held with firearms, sharp weapons in city

Police have detained 42 persons after raiding a students’ dormitory of Mirpur Government Bangla College. A pistol, 14 rounds of ammunitions and twenty-one machetes have been recovered during the raid. Darus Salam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Rafiqul Islam said a clash erupted at the dormitory on Tuesday after which the police raided it. The detained have been brought to the police station for questioning as they did not have identity proof of being students of the college, he said. The firearms and the lethal weapons have been recovered from various rooms and the premises of the dormitory, added OC Islam, according to bdnews24.com.
