43 BNP leaders, activists sent to jail

A court in Jessore has sent 43 local leaders and workers of BNP, including the party’s district unit acting president, to jail rejecting their bail prayers in 2 vandalism cases. Senior Judicial Magistrate Maruf Ahmed passed the order after the 43 BNP leaders and activists surrendered before his court. On October 1, when BNP leaders and activists formed a human chain in front of Jessore Press Club, police obstructed them, triggering a clash. Police filed two separate cases accusing 126 BNP leaders and activists of launching attacks on police and exploding bombs, according to a news agency.
