Monday, 22 July 2019

Forty three convicts, including eight death-row convicts, filed a petition with the High Court on Sunday challenging the lower court verdict against them in a case filed for attacking a train carrying then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina in 1994, reports UNB.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal filed the petition on behalf of his clients with the High Court bench concerned.
Eight death-row convicts, 22 convicts who got life term imprisonment and 13 people awarded 10 years imprisonment filed the appeal petition.
On July 3, a Pabna court sentenced nine BNP activists to death and jailed 25 others for life in the case.
It also sentenced 13 others to 10 years in jail.
