‘445 earthquake shelters identified in Dhaka’

A total of 445 shelters have been identified in the two city corporations of Dhaka to address potential earthquake emergencies, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said on Thursday.
A total of 445 shelters have been designated in Dhaka North and South to support residents during earthquake, the minister told reporters after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at Secretariat on Thursday.
The government is considering incorporating disaster awareness into the national education, he added.
The minister said a preliminary list of 1,45,000 volunteers from different agencies has been prepared to help manage post-earthquake situation.
