A case was filed against 45 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with Wednesday’s clash following the ICT verdict against Jamaat Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami. Utpal Chandra Roy, assistant sub-inspector of Sylhet’s Kotwali Police Station, filed the case against 20 identified and 25 unidentified Jamaat-Shibir men on Thursday. Besides, a Sylhet court on Thursday sent six Jamaat-Shibir men, who were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged link to the clash, to jail when police produced them before it on Thursday afternoon. At least 10 people were injured as Jamaat-Shibir men clashed with Awami League activists in the north-eastern city on Wednesday after the ICT-1 awarded death penalty to Nizami for wartime offences, according to a news agency.
