SYLHET, Oct 31 (UNB): A case has been filed against 45 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with the Wednesday’s clash following the ICT verdict against the Islamic party’s Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami.  Utpal Chandra Roy, assistant sub-inspector of Kotwali police station, filed the case against 20 identified and 25 unidentified Jamaat-Shibir men on Thursday.
Besides, a court here on Thursday sent six Jamaat-Shibir men, who were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged link to the clash, to jail when police produced them before it on Thursday.  At least 10 people were injured as Jamaat-Shibir men clashed with Awami League activists in the city on Wednesday over the ICT-awarded death penalty to Motiur Rahman Nizami.
Witnesses said the AL men, led by its central organising secretary Mesbah Uddin Siraj, brought out a jubilant procession in the Court Point area after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 condemned Jamaat ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami to death for crimes against humanity perpetrated during the 1971 Liberation War.
