45 students, four teachers expelled on first day of HSC exams

At least 45 examinees and four teachers were expelled for adopting unfair means on the first day of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), Alim and HSC Business Management (BM) examinations-2009 across the country Thursday.
Of the expelled, four examinees are under Dhaka Board, one under Comilla Board, six under Jessore Board, five under Rajshahi Board, four under Chittagong Board, nine under Barisal Board, four under Dinajpur Board, one under Madrasah Board and 11 under Technical Board.
All the four teachers expelled are under Dhaka Board. However, no examinee was expelled in Sylhet Board.
About 5,367 candidates, out of a total of 618,308, were absent on the first day.
According to the control room of the Education Ministry, 1,215 candidates were absent under Dhaka Board, 481 under Comilla Board, 682 under Jessore Board, 659 under Rajshahi Board, 429 under Chittagong Board, 239 under Sylhet Board, 245 under Barisal Board, 361 under Dinajpur Board, 818 under Madrasah Board and 260 under Technical Board.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid visited several examination centres including Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and Habibullah Bahar Degree College in the city Thursday morning.
