46 rivers register rises, 34 falls

Water levels in 46 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) on Friday marked rises and 34 stations recorded falls. Among the 84 monitored water level stations, four river stations have been registered steady and five river stations were registered flowing above danger level, a bulletin issued by FFWC said on Friday. The Kansha River at Jariajanjail, the Shangu in Dohazari of Chittagong, the Sangu in Bandarban, the Matamuhuri in Lama and Chiringa are flowing above its danger levels by 17cm, 40cm, 85cm, 111cm and 163cm respectively. Significant rainfall was recorded in some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6:00am on June 25. A total of 282mm rainfall were recorded at Cox's Bazar, 250mm at Lama, 218.5mm at Teknaf , 149mm at Bandarban, 165mm at Rangamati, 111mm at Chittagong, 225mm at Chandpur, 126.8mm at Patuakhali, 117.2mm at Pabna, 116.4mm at Kushtia, 112mm at Bhagyakul, 112mm at Barguna, 90mm at Barisal, 85.4mm at Narsingdi, 84mm at Panchpukuria, 77mm at Noakhali, 72mm at Chapainawabganj, 88mm at Rajshahi, 86.5mm at Faridpur and 70mm at Brahmanbaria, according to a news agency.
