464 sued for attacking Lakshmipur police station

At least 464 people have been sued for an armed attack on Chandraganj Police Station in Lakshmipur district on Thursday night in which over 10, including a truck driver, were badly injured. Ohiduzzaman Biswas, sub-inspector of Chandraganj police station, filed the case against 64 identified miscreants belong to a notorious gang ‘Jisan Bahini’, and 400 unidentified people on Friday on several charges, including gun attack on police station, obstructing the law-enforcers in execution of their duties, vandalism and arson attack. Solaiman Uddin Jisan, ringleader of ‘Jisan Bahini’ was made the prime accused in the case. Thursday night’s attack triggered a gunfight between the cops and the ‘Jisan Bahini’ members at Dewpara and Latifpur in Chandraganj under in Sadar Upazila. During the four-hour-long gunfight, the attackers also blocked several points of the Lakshmipur-Dhaka highway by placing logs, electric polls and torching tyres, according to private TV channels.
