47 held in Benapole while going to India illegally

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested 47 people, including women and children, while they were going to India illegally through Putkhali border of Benapole in Jessore district on Thursday. Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB conducted a drive at Putkhali Doulatpur border point in the early morning and arrested them, said Commander Shafiuddin of BGB Battalion-23 camp at Benapole union. The arrestees include 26 men, 14 women and seven children and all of them hail from different upazilas of Khulna, Bagerhat and Narail districts. Later, BGB troops handed over them to the port police. Ashraf Hossain, sub-inspector of Benapole port police station, said the detainees will be produced in a Jessore court on Thursday noon, A case was filed, according to UNB.
