47 rivers register rises, 36 falls

Water levels in 47 rivers stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 36 stations recorded falls in the country. Among the 84 monitored water level stations, none is above danger level, a bulletin issued by FFWC said on Friday. The Brahmaputra and Jamuna is in falling trend which may likely to continue in next 72 hours. The Ganges-Padma river systems are in rising trend. The Ganges may fall while the Padma may likely to remain steady in next 48 hours. The Surma-Kushiyara river systems are in rising trend. In the next 72 hours the overall flood situation in the northern districts may likely to improve, while in the next 48 hours the flood situation in central and north-eastern part of the country may remain steady. A total of 48 mm rainfall was recorded during last 24 hours ending at 6 am today at Panchgarh and 30 mm at Kanaighat, Sylhet and Khulna, according to BSS.
