48-hr hartal called in Fulgazi UZ

Ekram Mancho and Nagorik Samaj have called a 48-hour hartal (shutdown) from Wednesday at Fulgazi Upazila in Feni district to protest the killing of Fulgazi Upazila Chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram. Upazila (UZ) unit Jubo League general secretary Golam Rabbani confirmed the general strike and said it was being backed by the the upazila units of Awami League, Jubo League and Chatra League. The court granted a three-day remand for interrogating detained alleged killers Arman Hossain Kowser and Saidul Islam Pawan. Police had presented them before the court on Sunday noon, seeking a 7-day remand. Ekramul Haque, also the president of AL Fulgazi unit, was shot and then burned in his microbus in a brazen daylight attack in front of Bilashi Cinema Hall at Feni Sadar on May 20, according to bdnews24.com.
