48 kgs gold seized at Ctg airport

In one of the biggest gold hauls in the country, custom officials seized 420 gold bars, weighing around 48 kgs, from a plane at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on Thursday night. Mashiur Rahman Mondal, assistant commissioner of customs posted at the airport, said cleaners found the gold bars in an abandoned condition in the aircraft of ‘Fly Dubai’ which landed at the airport around 8:30 pm. Informed, customs officials searched different parts of the carrier, including its toilet, and recovered the gold, according to a news agency.
