5 arrested with foreign currencies at Shahjalal

Airport Armed Police (AAP) personnel at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Kurmitola arrested five Malaysia-bound passengers along with foreign currencies worth about Tk 8.6 million on Sunday. The arrestees were identified as Maksudur Rahman, 38, Md Rafiqul Islam, 40, Md Badal Khan, 40, Rajan Sikder, 40, and his twin brother Sumon Sikder, 40. Contacted, ASP Asma Ara Jahan of the AAP said five passengers were waiting to board a flight of Malaysian Airlines (MH197) as it was scheduled to fly for Kuala Lumpur around 1:20am. Tipped off, the AAP men identified the five passengers and picked them up from the boarding gate. The AAP men recovered the currencies of different countries, including Saudi Riyal and US dollar, searching their bodies, according to UNB.
