5 Bangladeshis back from Indian jail

Five Bangladesh nationals have returned home from India after serving three years’ jail term for illegal stay in that country after intrusion. Indian Immigration police handed over the Bangladeshi boys to Benapole Immigration police at about 8:00pm on Wednesday. The returnees were identified as Shamim Reza, 16, son of Rezaul Karim, a resident of Chiledanga village of Ashashuni Upazila of Satkhira district, Bishwajit Haldar, 15, son of Probhas Haldar, a resident of Ojailmari village of Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira, Ananta Kumar, 17, son of Nitai Das, Dilip Das, 16, son of Saodagor Das and Shital Das, 14, son of Joypal Das, all residents of Madaripur village of Neyamatpur Upazila of Naogaon district. Maniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Benapole Check Post police immigration, said in 2011, a team of Indian police had arrested them from Kolkata Rail Station area. Afterwards, they were sent to Kolkata jail awarding them three years’ jail term. Upon completion of the jail term, they were later kept in Kolkata Ariadah Druba shelter centre. They were sent back to Bangladesh through a special representative of the Indian government, according to UNB.
