5 BCL activists injured in factional clash

At least five activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured at a clash over a silly matter on the Dhaka University (DU) campus early Friday.
The injured are Barkatullah and Atik of Zahurul Haque Hall, Tushar and Shariar of Hazi Muhammad Muhsin Hall of DU, and the other one could not be identified immediately.
They received first aid from the university Medical Centre.
Witnesses said the incident occurred when Barkatullah, a BCL activist of Zahurul Haque Hall unit, and Tushar, another activist of Muhsin Hall unit, logged in an altercation over a trifling issue at around 10am on the university campus.
At one stage, Tushar attacked Barkatullah along with some of his friends leaving Barkat injured.
On information, another group of BCL activists of Zahurul Haque Hall unit came to the campus and attacked Tushar.
Later, university proctor Prof KM Saiful Islam Khan with the help of top BCL leaders quelled the situation.
Following the incident, tension mounted high among the BCL activists of both Halls.
Additional police were deployed on the campus to avert untoward incidents.
