5 children drown

Five children drowned in separate places in Thakurgaon district on Thursday afternoon, within half-an-hour of one incident after the other. ‘Hridoy’, 10, son of one Md Solaiman of Jagannathpur village under Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, drowned while taking bath in a pond near his house in Jagannathpur around 4:00pm on Thursday. Earlier, four children, including two brothers, drowned in a pond in Bhadurpara in Thakurgaon municipality under the Sadar Upazila. They are Latifur Rahman, 8, son of Nur Islam, ‘Nupur’, 8, daughter of Md Chhottu, and brothers ‘Fahim’, 9, and ‘Reefat’, 7, sons of one ‘Enamul’, all residents of Bhadurpara. Sadar Police Station OC AKM Mehedi Hasan said the four children drowned one after another in a pond near their house in Bhadurpara around 3:30pm, report agencies.
