At least 20 people, including five cops, were injured in a clash between Jamaat-Shibir activists and police at Natore town on Monday. Police arrested three Jamaat-Shibir men in connection with the clash. Witnesses said a group of activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir brought out a procession as part of their central programme at Harishpur Bypass at the district town around 8:00am. When they reached near Ekata Clinic, police chased off the Jamaat-Shibir men dispersing their procession and a clash ensued. The Jamaat-Shibir activists started hurling brick chips at the law enforcers. At one stage, police lobbed several teargas shells and fired several rounds of rubber bullet on the Jamaat-Shibir men, leaving 15 activists injured. Five policemen were also injured during the clash. The injured were admitted to Christian Missionary Hospital, according to UNB.
