5 die as boat capsizes in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, July 24: At least five people, including a minor girl, drowned and five others went missing as an overloaded boat sank in the Borobilar Beel (water body) in Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Sumitra Sangma (12), Rina (18), Sajeda (25), Rawshan Ara (24) and Shahera Kahtun (27). Quoting locals, police said the boat carrying over 30 passengers sank in the water body at around 1:30pm. Locals recovered the bodies of the five people, said officer-in-charge of Fulbaria Police Station Anwar Hossain Bhuiyan.
