5 drug peddlers get different jail terms

NATORE, May 14: Mobile court in Bagatipara upazila sentenced one hemp peddler to 7 days' terms of imprisonment Wednesday. In an anti-drug drive Bagatipara thana police arrested Kamal Hossain from Laxmanhati Pukurpar area in Bagatipara Upazila of the district. Later he was handed over to mobile court which Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Yeamin Khan sentenced him. The convicted person was identified as Md.Abdul Ghani (52) son of late Sarfarazul Islam of village Laxmanhati of Bagatipara Upazila in Natore district. In another anti-drug drive of Naldanga thana police arrested country made wine peddler Maznu (35) from West Madhnagar. The convicted person was identified as Maznu, son of Bishu of village West Madhnagar of Naldanga thana in Natore district Wednesday. Later he was handed over to mobile court when Executive Magistrate Md. Ashraf Hossain sentenced him to 4 months imprisonment. In a separate anti-drug drive Naldanga thana police arrested a hemp peddler Nazrul Islam (33) with 250 grams of country wine from west Madnagar Bazehaltipara of Natore Upazila. The convicted person was identified as Nazrul Islam son of late Amir Pramanik of village West Madhnagar Bazehaltipara of Naldanga Thana in Natore district Wednesday. Later he was handed over to mobile court when Executive Magistrate Md. Ashraf Hossain sentenced him to 4 months' imprisonment. In an anti-drug drive Natore thana police arrested Abdul Quddus (35) with 25 grams of hemp .The convicted person was identified as Abdul Quddus son of Abdul Hannan Patwary of village Raiamhati of Natore thana of the district Wednesday. Executive Magistrate Md. Ashraf Hossain sentenced him to 1 month's term of imprisonment. Singra thana police on anti-drug drive arrested Matleb ( 40 ) with 200 grams of hemp .The convicted person was identified as Matleb Hossain son of Saifulla of village Sarkerpara of Singra thana of the district Wednesday. UNO Singra and Executive Magistrate Md. Adullah Harun sentenced him to 1 year's term of imprisonment. Child crushed under wheels Another report adds: One child was killed at Nabinagar on Lalpur-Ishurdi highway in Lalpur Upazila of Natore district Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as Irine Sultana (7) daughter of Abdul Hakim of village Bandar under Singra Upazila. Witnesses said Irin Sultana was crossing the road where a truck hit her leaving her dead on the spot. Police recovered the body. Lalpur Thana police seized the killer truck.
