5 houses gutted in Ctg

At least five houses were gutted by a fire that broke out at East Bolirhat under Bakolia Police Station in Chittagong city on Monday. Fire service officials said the fire erupted from a house in the area and it soon engulfed four other adjoining houses. On information, five firefighting units from Balirhat and Chandanpura fire stations in the port city rushed in and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts with the help of local people. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately. The extent of losses from the fire was estimated at Tk 5.0 million, according to UNB.
