5 hurt in BCL factional clash

Sunday, 6 April 2014

At least five people were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC) Sunday afternoon. Witnesses said there had been longstanding disputes between the two BCL groups -- one led by SZRMC unit president Mirazul Islam and the other by general secretary Atikur Rahman -- over establishing their supremacy on the campus. As a sequel to the enmity, both groups engaged in a clash around 4pm on Sunday. A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left five people injured from the both sides. On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, according to a news agency.
