5 JMB men to walk gallows for killing Jhalakathi PP

JHALAKATHI, Feb 11 (UNB): A court here sentenced on Wednesday five members of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to death in a case filed for killing a public prosecutor (PP) eight years ago.
Among the condemned convicts, Aminul Islam alias Amir Hossain, M
Mehdi Hasan and Murad Hosain, hailing from Rajshahi, Khulna and Barguna districts respectively, were in the dock when the verdict was delivered.
Two other convicts-Bellal Hossain and Sagir Hossain-were tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, miscreants shot Haider Hossain, public prosecutor of additional sessions judge court, to death on his way back home from a mosque near his house at Gorasthan road in the town on the night of April 11, 2007.
