5 kidnapped fishermen rescued in Sundarbans

Bangladesh Coast Guard members rescued five fishermen from Laldia Char of the Sundarbans under Patharghata upazila in Barguna district, after three days into their abduction, according to a news agency.
Pirates kidnapped 26 fishermen along with a fishing trawler from Laldia area in the early hours of Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard from Patharghata station, led by station commander Lt Ariful Islam, conducted a drive in the area around 3:30pm.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang members fled the scene leaving the trawler ‘MV Monira’ along with the five fishermen –– Yusuf Majhi, Selim Majhi, Faruk Hossain, Ayub Ali and Selim Mistri.
The coast guard team rescued them along with the trawler. They also recovered a pipe gun from the spot. The 21 other fishermen still remained untraced.
