5 killed, 50 injured in separate road mishaps

FARIDPUR, Oct 6 (UNB): Five persons were killed and 50 others injured in separate road mishaps in different districts Sunday and Monday.
In Faridpur, four persons were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed into a microbus on the Dhaka-Barisal highway at Purba Sadardi under Bhanga Upazila here Monday.
Police said the speeding truck hit the Dhaka-bound microbus from Barisal at about 8:00 am, killing four of its passengers on the spot and injuring three others critically.
The deceased were identified as Selim, Aleya Begum, Akhi Parvin and Lamiya.
In Magura, a man was killed and 35 others injured in separate road accidents in the district Sunday.
Police said Shantiram Biswas of Kosuddi village under Sadar Upazila was run over and killed by a truck at Ramnagar on the Magura-Kamarkhali highway.
35 persons were injured when a bus and a tempo plunged into a roadside ditch after head on collision at Darga gate on Magura-Jhenidah highway.
Another report from Madaripur adds: At least 12 passengers of Nasimon, a local human hauler, were injured when a local bus hit the vehicle at Kamaldi bridge on Faridpur-Barisal highway.
