5 killed in 3 districts

At least five people died in separate incidents in Bogra and Sylhet districts Keraniganj of Upazila Dhaka district at sometime between Wednesday and early Friday. In Bogra, police recovered the partially decomposed body of Jesmin Ara, a Class-VI student, from a vegetable field in Shajahanpur upazila around 11am on Friday. Jesmin, 14, had been missing since she went out of their house for private tuition three days ago, according to family members. She was the daughter of Asmat Ali of Jamunna village in Shajahanpur upazila. A towel was found wrapped around her neck and there were marks of acid injury to the body. Shajahanpur police station officer-in-charge Abdul Mannan said the minor girl might have been killed after rape. In separate incident, police recovered the body of an unidentified sexagenarian woman from Jamuna River in Sonatola upazila. Locals found the body of the woman, aged around 61, floating in the river and informed Sonatola police, who rushed in and retrieved it. Police also recovered the body of Hossain Ali, 50, son of Safed Ali of Balapar village of Shibganj upazila of Bogra, from Challish Chhatrobeel area on Friday noon. Marks of knife wounds were visible in different parts of the body. In Keraniganj, police recovered the body of a youth from ‘Jhilmil’ area, a project of Rajuk, on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as M Mamun, 30, son of Tawhidul Islam of Sitarampur village of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district. Mamun used to live with his family members at Matikata under Dhaka Cantonment area. He went missing after he had left home to appear before a court on Thursday, according to family members. Meanwhile in Sylhet city, police recovered the body of an auto-bike driver named M Mamoon. Muggers killed Mamoon after snatching his vehicle on Thursday night, police suspected. There were marks of wounds on the head and other parts of the body, according to UNB.
