5 killed in city road accidents

Four pedestrians were run over by a bus near the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday morning. Three of them died on the spot. In another accident, a short while later, an unidentified woman was hit by a pickup van at Banani. She later died in the hospital. The first accident occurred at around 10:30am, said Airport Police Station Inspector Shafiqul Islam. The bus mounted on the footpath, killing three people on the spot. The bus had been seized, but its driver had managed to flee. The victims were identified as Bilkis Begum, 35, Tajuddin, 40, Biman employees Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury and Sabur Khan, according to a news agency.
